Go Small Or Go Home: What to Know About Micro Peels

Micro Peels, Chicago ILAging can wreak some serious havoc on all parts of your body; especially your skin. If you feel like your skin is starting to get fines lines, wrinkles, and blotchy pigmentation because of sun damage, then Dr. Wiener may recommend a micro laser peel.

What’s a Micro Laser Peel?

Unlike other laser peels that are more invasive, this micro peel uses a light laser to resurface the skin. To start out, Dr. Wiener will apply an anesthetic cream to the skin to help numb it. After about 20 minutes and once the cream has kicked in, we will then blow some cold air on your skin to help make you feel even more comfortable. Once you are as comfortable as possible, Dr. Wiener will then start the resurfacing process; this usually doesn’t take very long.

What Is Recovery Like?

Directly following your micro peel, your skin will be a little pink and inflamed for about two to three days. Oftentimes, people say that it looks and feels similar to a sunburn. To help speed up the healing process, you will be sent home with a special cleanser and moisturizer that you will have to use twice a day. We encourage all of our patients to avoid wearing makeup for about one week after this procedure or until the healing has really started to sink in.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

On average, we encourage patients to get a total of about  six to eight treatments. During your initial consultation with Dr Wiener, though, he will be able to give you a better idea of how many treatment you will need.
