What is a body lift?
If you are interested in a more profound, full body enhancement, the Body Lift might be the solution for you. This more extensive procedure removes and tightens skin along the abdomen, hips, thighs, and lower back — and even lifts the lateral thigh and buttock area in the process.
A Body Lift, or Belt Lipectomy, utilizes a continuous incision around the entire pant or belt line. Through this incision, a Tummy Tuck is done, as well as removal of excess skin and fat around the entire lower waistline, including the lower back/buttock area. The abdomen, thighs, and buttocks are re-contoured altogether.
Is a body lift right for me?
Whether you have had extreme weight fluctuations with significant weight loss (especially after gastric bypass procedures or banding), or significant weight fluctuations due to pregnancy, or simply an excessive amount of loose skin due to the aging process, a Body Lift may be the best possible option for you.
If there is excessive, loose hanging skin, not only in the abdominal area, but also stretching around the upper thigh, hip, and lower back area, then removing this in one operation can result in a dramatic improvement.
A typical Body Lift is done under general anesthesia. Liposuction is often added to the abdomen, hips or flanks to improve the overall results.
Operative times range from 4 to 6 hours, depending on how extensive the procedure is, and whether liposuction will be administered to the area as well. Typically, an overnight stay is required and a soft, silicone drain is placed just beneath the skin postoperatively. A tight-fitting compression garment, along with a tight abdominal binder is also worn for optimum post-operative results. Recovery times for most daily activities range from 2 to 3 weeks. More strenuous activities can be resumed after 6 to 8 weeks.
