What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
These techniques improve fine wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and general sun damage. They act by stripping away the superficial layers of the skin. New skin cells migrate to the treated areas and produce new, smooth, natural collagen.
Skin Resurfacing Procedures
Chemical peels such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can be applied to the entire face and neck (avoiding the eyelids).
Dermabrasion uses a spinning wheel with a rough (diamond-encrusted) surface to abrade the skin; this is especially good for the pitting of acne scars and vertical lines around the lips.
Lasers can also be used to resurface facial and neck skin. It is effective in treating wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation. The laser also causes a mild tightening effect on the facial skin.
What Our Patients Have to Say
“I met with Sally and she performed a micro laser peel after discussing what my concerns were about my face. I wanted to reduce scaring and pigmentation because I am darker and I have issues with hyperpigmentation. Sally is very knowledgeable and concerned about your health and your overall well being. She goes over the step by step process as she is doing the peel so you know what is coming next. The after care was very important and she made sure to explain to me how important sunscreen was and that the next few days I woulde peel which I did abd on the fourth day I was overtly amazed how beautiful the overall texture my skin had and how clear it was. I highly recommend Sally and this staff. Make your appointment today.”
What is Recovery Like After a Skin Resurfacing Procedure?
These treatments result in redness and peeling of the skin for 5 to 10 days. There will also be some swelling. Most patients can return to work within 2 weeks. The pink color of the new skin may last for several months.
Dr. Wiener now also offers a new Laser Micro-Peel procedure that reduces post-procedure downtime by nearly 50%.
