6 things you should know about butt lifts

Butt lift | Chicago, IL Pregnancy, aging and fluctuations in weight can all play a role in the volume and shape of the buttocks. If you’ve ever wanted a round, well-shaped butt, a butt lift may be ideal for you. Here are six things you should know about this procedure.

There are two lift options. The first is one called the Brazilian Butt Lift, which consists of using liposuction to harvest fat from other areas of the body and injecting it into the buttocks to increase volume and improve shape. The other option is a buttock augmentation with implants, which involves the placement of solid silicone implants. A fat transfer creates a more natural contour, while implants provide a more rounded shape.

If you don’t have enough fat to harvest, implant surgery may be better for you. Implants are best for patients who don’t have a significant amount of excess fat or want a more dramatic look.

You can have a Brazilian Butt Lift if you’ve already had buttock augmentation with implants. You may not have the full Brazilian butt lift going this route, but you can add extra volume with this procedure.

Either procedure takes about two hours to complete. For implant surgery, a two- to three-inch incision will be made in the vertical crease in the butt to properly place the silicone implants beneath the butt muscles. After the implant is placed, the patient is stitched up and sent to recovery. During a Brazilian butt lift, fat is removed from the hips, lower back, thighs, abdomen or other areas with liposuction. The fat is then purified and prepared for transfer. Finally, it’s injected into specific points on the buttocks.

Recovery is more significant with augmentation surgery. Recovery from Brazilian Butt Lift is about one week and about two weeks with the augmentation with implants. With a Brazilian Butt Lift, you can return to normal activities within one to two weeks, but two solid weeks with the augmentation surgery. With both procedures, you should avoid strenuous activities for up to six weeks.

You need to be willing to avoid sitting on your buttocks for several weeks. With either butt lift procedure, you will not be able to sit or lie directly on your buttocks for about two weeks.
