Liposuction (Lipoplasty/Suction Lipectomy) Using the Vaser System™

In Dr. Wiener’s practice, it is not liposuction, it is “Liposelection”. Liposelection (by using the VASER (™) is a new and very different way to remove unwanted fat from almost any part of the body, that is as gentle as it is effective. This revolutionary new procedure offers exceptional results and rapid healing, and is an alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction. Liposelection uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology to reshape your body. Since it is more tissue selective than traditional liposuction, damage to connective tissue is minimized. There is less bruising and swelling than traditional liposuction and recovery is faster. In addition, more fat can be removed with smoother results and more contraction of the overlying skin when compared to traditional liposuction.

The treatment is done utilizing tiny incisions in inconspicuous spots. A solution is injected (tumescent approach) to facilitate fat removal and minimize bruising. The ultrasonic treatment (Liposelection) is then done. Liquefied fat is then removed.

After surgery, there will be some degree of swelling with the possibility of mild bruising. A form-fitting surgical garment is worn for several weeks to minimize swelling and optimize contour. Patients are encouraged to walk as soon as possible, and most return to work within one week (depending on the area treated). More strenuous activities can be resumed in 4-6 weeks.

Abdominoplasty ("Tummy Tuck")

An abdominoplasty helps flatten and re-contour the abdomen and waist, by removing excess skin and fat, and by tightening the underlying muscles. The procedure is especially beneficial for women with loose skin, stretch-marks, and muscle laxity as a result of pregnancy, as well as for patients with excess fat and loose baggy skin, which has simply lost its elasticity.

A horizontal incision above the pubic area but within the panty line is utilized. The length of the incision varies with the amount of skin to be removed. Dr. Wiener uses a medical grade adhesive rather than stitches in order to minimize the appearance of scars. In some cases, liposuction to the abdomen, hips or flank area can be added to achieve the best possible contour.

Most patients feel tired and sore after surgery there will be some degree of bruising and swelling. Small plastic drains are in place and are removed in several days. A post-surgical garment is worn for several weeks. Most patients return to work within 10-14 days. More strenuous activities can be resumed in 6-8 weeks.

Partial Abdominoplasty ("Mini Tummy Tuck")

A mini tummy tuck is similar to an abdominoplasty except a shorter incision is used. This procedure is beneficial for patients with excess skin and fat that is limited to the lower abdomen below the naval. Liposuction is often added to achieve the best possible contour.

After surgery, there will be some degree of bruising and swelling. A small plastic drain may be in place and is removed within several days. A compressive, post-surgical garment is worn for several weeks. Most patients return to work within one week. More strenuous activities can be resumed in 4-6 weeks.

Thigh Lift / Buttock Lift / Body Lift

These procedures are beneficial for patients with excess, loose skin of the thighs, hips and abdomen, which occurs after significant weight loss and a general loss of elasticity due to aging. Excess skin and fat is removed. The remaining tissues are repositioned to improve overall body contour and smooth out imperfections in the skin.

A medial thigh lift is done through incisions concealed in the groin area. Excess skin and fat is removed and the inner thigh is then pulled up to tighten the area. In some cases liposuction is included to obtain the best possible contour.

A lateral thigh lift is done through incisions concealed in the panty line. Once again, excess skin and fat is removed and the loose skin of the thigh is pulled up to tighten and re-contour the side of the thigh and the hip.

Buttock lifts are done through incisions concealed within the panty line. A segment of skin and fat is removed from the posterior hip, lower back area, and sagging buttock skin is lifted and re-contoured. This can be combined with the lateral thigh lift by extending the incisions.

A body lift, or belt lipectomy, utilizes a continuous incision around the entire panty or belt line. Through this incision, a tummy tuck is done, as well as removal of excess skin and fat around the entire lower waistline including the lower back/buttock area. Abdomen, thighs, and buttocks are re-contoured all together. This more extensive procedure requires an in-patient hospital stay.

After these lifting procedures, there will be some degree of bruising and swelling. Small plastic drains will be in place, and are removed within 5-10 days. A post-surgical garment is worn for several weeks to decrease the swelling and improve the contour. Patients return to work in 7-10 days for buttock and thigh lifts and within 2-4 weeks for body lifts. More strenuous activities can be resumed in 6-8 weeks.

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)

A brachioplasty removes excess skin from the upper arm to create a more pleasing contour. This procedure is beneficial for patients with loose, sagging skin of the upper arm as a result of weight fluctuations, or simply a loss of skin elasticity.

The procedure is done using an incision on the inner aspect of the arm. Liposuction can be added to achieve the best possible results.

After surgery, the arms will be sore, and there will be some degree of bruising and swelling. A post surgical compression garment is worn for several weeks. Most patients return to work in 7-10 days. More strenuous activities can be resumed in 4-6 weeks.

Pectoral Implants & Calf Implants

The chest area in men and the calf area in both men and women can be augmented through the use of FDA approved implants made of a silicon elastimer.

Male patients who wish a fuller more sculpted look in the chest/pectoral area are good candidates for pectoral augmentation. In addition, patients who have had injuries or congenital deformities will also benefit.

The procedure is done utilizing incisions in the underarm area. The implant is placed beneath the chest muscle. Small plastic drains may be used and are in place for several days. A compressive wrap is used for several days after the procedure.  There will be some degree of bruising and swelling. Patients can return to work in one week. More strenuous activities should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.

Calf implants are a good option for patients with naturally small calves who want to create a fuller, more sculpted look in this area. They can also benefit patients who have congenital deformities or injuries in this area.

The implants are placed through a small incision behind the knee. They are placed beneath the fascia, which is a thick covering over the muscle. In many cases, two implants are placed in each leg to mimic the natural shape of the calf muscle. A small plastic drain may be used and will be in place for several days. The legs are placed in a mildly compressive wrap for several days after surgery. Patients usually return to work in 7-10 days. More strenuous activities should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.
